About Me

Who Am I?

Laura Schachter.  I am a mother, wife, teacher, and friend.  I love the sound of laughter, especially children's laughter.

I have a Master's of Arts in Teaching, with a focus in early childhood, special education, and elementary education.  I am certified in special education, early childhood education, and elementary education.  I taught in an early childhood special education center, in elementary schools as an inclusion Kindergarten teacher, and as a resource special education teacher.

I am currently on a public school teaching "sabbatical", as I am a stay-at-home mom raising my two young children.  I missed teaching, as soon as I left.  Teaching is in my blood, so I started creating things while my son was an infant.  This resulted in our house becoming a preschool/kindergarten for my kids and their friends.  My kids go/went to another preschool, but came home to Mommy's school, too.

At the moment, I work with both my kids' teachers to create games and products for their classrooms.  I also tutor elementary students with and without special needs.  I am able to use my brain and creativity to help my children's teachers and other students.  Right now, I have the best of both worlds!  I love my life! 

My main goal, when teaching, has always been to get kids to forget that they are learning.  I try and make the bulk of my teaching through games and through novel ideas.  I love concrete and active learning.

I hope that my different ideas and games save you some time and provide your students with enjoyment!
