Freaky Friday!!

Something is 'brewing' every Friday in October...

If you have followed me for the past year, you might remember that last October I joined a group of sellers to offer $1 Deals each Friday in October!
We have decided to 'get freaky' again this year!

This year there are 5 Fridays in October, so you will be treated to 'spook'-tacular deals for 5 weeks!
The deals begin THIS Friday- October 2nd!

Here is how it works:
Each Friday the participating sellers will select one product from their store to mark down to just $1 for the day!

How will you find these products?
There are 2 ways:

2. Click the links to the participating stores in the linky at the end of this post and it will take you directly to that store's $1 deal for the day!
You can also click the first link- it will bring you to all the $1 deals of the day!

So what will you find from me this week?
I've been so excited about the Grab & Go Portable Word Wall Sets, so I wanted to give you all an opportunity to try out the pumpkin set out for $1!
The "Grab & Go" sets include thematic word and picture cards in two sizes. There are also "Little Books" in two sizes.
These sets are so versatile. You can use them for sorting on a large or tabletop pocket chart.
I love using them as word rings. This makes them portable, organized and easy to store. I just attach them to the wall with command hooks.
Put the thematic word sheets directly in a binder. You now have a portable word binder.
Attach the thematic sheets directly to the wall and you have a quick & easy word wall.
The Little Books are great to send home with kids.
Use the Grab & Go cards to explore math concepts.
Everything in this pack is available in color and black & white. When I use the B/W option, I choose a different color for each thematic set.
Ready To Find All the $1 Deals for Week 1 of Freaky Friday?

Be sure to check back next week to find out what Week 2's deal will be!

Have a fabulous weekend!

All In A Name FREEBIES!

Kids love to learn about their names!
They are highly motivated to explore everything about their name and the names of their friends. I created some FREE interactive worksheets, so kids can explore many features of names.
https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Names-FREE-2103496
This freebie is editable and easy to use. There are two versions for the worksheet where they work on their own name and for the "All In A Name" worksheet that works on a friend's name.

Below are the two versions for kids to work on their own name. This editable version allows you to type in each child's name at the top of the worksheet. They are then able to trace the letters in their name.

Version #1 includes: tracing their name, writing each letter of their name in separate boxes, writing the first letter of their name, circling all the letters in their name & identifying vowels and consonants.

Version #2 includes: tracing their name, writing each letter of their name in separate boxes, coloring the vowels red and consonants blue, rainbow writing their name, counting syllables in their name, counting and drawing a circle for each letter in their name, and circling all the letters in their name.

The "All In A Name" worksheet has the same two versions, but these worksheets allow kids to explore their classmates' names.  Just print them out and you are ready to go!

Version #1-
Version #2-
Students choose a name from your word wall, written on a popsicle stick or card, or from any place in the room. They will copy the name and start exploring!!

Sing with your kids, while following along on the pocket chart.
Give them a small sized version for their journal.
Kids can practice writing their classmates names in their own take home books!
I paired all of these freebies with my "Going On A Letter Hunt" and "Going On A Word Hunt" packs. Kids can use the focus wands to identify upper and lowercase letters; as well as, specific sight words. It is great for engaging students and for getting them up and moving around the room.

Get your kids excited and break out the fun during those first few weeks. Let kids experience that learning is FUN! You will reap the benefits all year long. Kids will enter your classroom with anticipation, because they know they will enjoy the learning!

Here are a few easy ideas to make learning fun!

1. It can be as simple as letting kids practice skills (writing letters, writing sight words, math facts, etc.) by using dry erase markers ON the table!
2.  Use interactive worksheets! You can still use easy no-prep worksheets, but add a twist to them.
I love using play dough mats. You can see us using apple themed dough here.
Here are some interactive sight word worksheets from The Measured Mom and 3 Dinosaurs. Kids will love exploring sight words with these fun activities!
3. Get kids up and moving with any activity. Have a scavenger hunt around the classroom. This is an easy way to help them become familiar with supplies and parts of the room.
4. Utilize partner time. This helps develop bonds between kids and adds fun to any activity.
We just moved this summer and my kids are going to a new school. My son was extremely nervous to start in the new school. We spent the last week of summer dealing with a huge range of emotions. His number one fear was not having a friend.

Remember that there are kids in your class, who are afraid of being left out. Try and build connections and a caring classroom community that will make every child feel included. Strive to make every child feel like they are a treasured and special part of the classroom. This will set the tone for the year. This will make your students ready to learn.
Try and get organized! This is a "Do as I say, not as I do" tip. I am always on a mission to get myself organized! I am great at getting things organized, it is KEEPING them organized where I struggle. I am hoping that this year I will get my house and supplies set up in a system where I can actually keep everything organized.

Here are a few organizational tricks that I found on Pinterest. I am definitely trying these out!
1. Store your construction paper in hanging file folders. I can't wait to try this. My construction paper is always getting torn or bent, because I have to pull it out of a pile. Not to mention, it is always falling on the floor!
2. Use plastic containers to store card games. This will keep cards and any supplies needed together in one space. The plastic containers are also very durable and easy for kids to use!
3. Turn a Lazy Susan into a spinning organizational school supply center. I love this! Can't wait to try it out.
4. Attach an actual photo to crates/bins to show exactly how they should look when everything is put away. I need this for myself. I think it is the extra little reminder that I need to take the time to clean up right!
