New Mini Anchor Chart Stand!

I love using a mini anchor chart.  It is so convenient to display important information.
However, I need a mini anchor chart sturdy enough to withstand a 4 year old tornado!  I had to go back to the drawing board to create something strong enough to withstand my four year old.  Luckily, the awesome experts at Lowe's were ready to help me create.
I took in my old stand and a drawing of what I wanted it to become.  The guy who helped me, gave me a design in 2 minutes flat!  This stand is SO sturdy!!
I wanted to share my design and the dimensions with you, so that you can create your own mini anchor chart stand!

Here's what you need.  You need 62 inches of 1/2 inch PVC pipe.
You need two 1/2inch Tee attachments.  Make sure that they are the slip kind and not the threaded kind.
You need six 1/2 inch elbows.  These elbows need to be 90 degree elbows and the "slip" variety.
I made more than one stand, so I bought the contractor pack to save money :)
If you are cutting the PVC pipe yourself, then I would highly recommend getting a PVC cutter.  I didn't get this brand, but mine's basically the same.  I think it was around $11.  I have used it a ton!
Now you have all your supplies!  Use your PVC cutter to cut all your pieces.
It's really easy to do, but the blades are REALLY sharp.  Be careful!
Here's the dimensions for all the PVC pipes.
After you have it all cut, then break out your elbows and tees.  I added tape to my PVC pipes before I put it all together.  You can also use spray paint to make your stand exactly the color that you want.

Attach 2 elbows to three of the 10" PVC pipes.  One will be for the top.  Two will be for the base.
To create your base, take two of the 10" PVC pipes and elbows.  You will be attaching these to the Tee.  You need to insert one of the 2" PVC pieces into both sides of the Tee.  This will allow you to attach the sides to the Tee.
Now you have your base!
Push the 12" PVC pieces into the Tees and attach the top 10" piece with the elbows.
You're done!!  So easy and now you have a super sturdy Mini-Anchor Chart Stand.
I attached metal rings to the top to hold my charts.
If you make one, I would LOVE to hear about it!  I hope you love yours as much as I love mine :)

  3. I love this idea... Now if only I knew where I could buy some PVC. (I teach in the Middle East, and we don't seem to have hardware stores like we had back in North America.)

    1. Aw! I wish that you could find it easily! I wonder if there is something else that might work like PVC?

  4. YAY! I just picked up the supplies at Home Depot (they even cut the PVC for me!). I took less than 5 minutes to assemble 2 of these. This will be perfect for my guided reading and math groups. Thanks for the easy and detailed directions!!
